Description
Late Period - Roman Period, Ca. 664 BC - 200 AD. A gold pendant of two confronted vulture heads. The hooked beaks project to either side, with circular eyes inlaid with red stones. The central field is decorated with a green drop-shaped stone, with a suspension loop rising from the top centre. For similar see: The British Museum, Miscellaneous number: SR3/7051. Size: 55mm x 36mm; Weight: 11g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; previously in the S.T. collection, Switzerland, 1980s–2000s. The XRF analyses performed demonstrate that the compositional profile of the metal is consistent with, and technically compatible with, documented metallic compositions of objects from the attributed historical period, thereby providing substantial material support for the object’s authenticity. This piece is accompanied by a report from Lisa Sartini, Egyptologist PHD of Chimera Heritage Consultants.
